The Eddie Ceremony

The Eddie Aikau Big Wave Invitational Ceremony sone of the most special events on the planet. An elite group of waterman are hand chosen by the Aikau Ohana. This surfing contest perpetuates the life and legacy of Waimea’s first lifeguard and known for risking his life in an effort to seek out help for his crewman of the Hokulea as it capsized along it’s journey. His crew was found and Eddie was never to be seen again. So this special gathering honors him for his bravery and skill of riding the waves of Waimea Bay.
