Pu‘uhonua Society Presents:
CONTACT 3017: Hawai‘i in a Thousand Years

Honolulu Museum of Art School
Opening April 01, 2017, 5-9PM
On display thru April 16, 2017

CONTACT 3017 asks artists to take on the role of futurologists, dwelling in predictions and prophecies. Artist were asked to forecast the unknown, to imagine and hypothesize possible and probable (or impossible and improbable) futures in Hawai‘i and investigate the worldviews, ideologies, and myths that support them. Climate change and rising/falling sea levels, nationalism and decentralization of power, globalization and resource distribution, are just some of the many issues we face locally and globally.

This year’s juror is the art collective Paradise Cove.

This exhibition is supported by Pu‘uhonua Society, Nā Mea Hawai‘i, and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs.HMA

You could say party of the year, but that would Not be good enough! Christa Wittmier or Super CW is the reason Hawaii nightlife was/is so rad. No one person has done so much to merge all the different scenes in our little town. All whilst wearing a Cheshire cat grin and having THE most positive attitude out of anyone i have ever met. (and i know quite a few people let me tell you) Even when u didnt believe in yourself CW did! From our early days of Contrast Magazine she was our biggest supporter and we honestly could not be where we are today without her. Her selfless support of everything nightlife and creatives in Hawaii did not go unnoticed. She had a blog documenting nightlife before blog was even a word. From EVERYTHING Chinatown, Powwow, bacardi pool partys and everything in between everything she did was awesome and came from the heart. I know she helped so many artists, musicians and deadbeats like me become the people we are today. We Thank You! She will never EVER be replaced so This is Aloha for a time well lived and loved. Please come down and partake on this magical night celebrating 8 years of the best time of our lives, Lance :)))))))))
