Friday, January 22nd, 2010The Volcom Pipeline Pro holding period starts tomorrow, although it’s not looking like it’s going to run till next week. Conditions permitting. This is a five star WQS contest with a $120,000 prize purse. Pipeline has never had a contest like this outside of the PipeMasters. Considering the risk and skill needed to surf Pipe well, this contest is long overdue for a nice prize purse and a five star rating. Being that the majority of the international pros have gone home for the winter, the contestant lineup is looking heavily local, something us locals can appreciate.

I’m loving the gladiator theme to the contest, I’m sure Volcom will have some tasteful surprises for the contest like they do for all their contests.
