What was suppose to be a nighttime photo shoot at the Banzai Pipeline quickly turned into a North Shore sausage fest to celebrate Jamie O’Brien’s Volcom Pipeline Pro win. Tagged Red Bull After Dark, this event setup Stadium Warrior lights to illuminate the Pipe lineup. Thus, in theory, allowing Jamie O’Brien, Bruce Irons and Ian Walsh to shred the Banzai in the dark, and allow photogs to get “different” images. We have yet to see if Red Bull accomplished the mission– we’re still waiting to see the water shots from that night. But, what they did accomplish was throwing a rager on Monday night at the House of O’Brien. Contrast intern KK Adams rolled through with her brand-new Canon 7D and here are the happy snaps of the debauchery for JOB. See the rest of her photos HERE.
Jamie O’Brien aka Mr. Pipeline won the 5-Star World Qualifying Series Volcom Pipeline Pro yesterday in 6-to-8-foot, glassy barrels. Click here for a full wrap-up of the event. JOB’s victory party/Red Bull After Dark was insane last night. Lancifer, KK Adams and I were there and images will be posted soon.

This sequence is of 17 year old John John Florence getting shacked at the Pipeline. With this 9.63 scoring bomb he advanced to the semi-finals of the Volcom Pipeline Pro along with Jamie O’brien. Not bad, kid.
Short video clip from day one of the Volcom Pipe pro. Featuring Mitch Coleborn, Gavin beschen, Mark Healy, & Clay marzo. Contrast contributor Sean “Mood-dog” Moody’s wipe out is pretty much the highlight.
4-6 ft. swell & mostly backdoor rights greated day 2 of the Volcom Pipeline Pro. Day 2 standout was North Carolina’s Brett Barley with a 19.60. By the time i set up my tripod conditions turned to shit and they called off the contest. Luckily Contrast intern Kate Adams shot a couple stills.

Went down to Pipeline yesterday to find sunny conditions and perfect 6-8 ft. waves for the Volcom Pipeline Pro. I shot mostly video (which i will be posting soon). Also a couple line-up shots. Stay tuned as the contrast crew will be heading down to the pipe to catch some more wave slaying.

The Volcom Pipeline Pro could start its first day of competition TODAY. Conditions are likely to be in the 10-15 foot range with the winds switching from the North to trades. The Volcom Pipeline Pro is a 5* WQS event which will feature surfers like Andy Irons, Freddy P, Rob Machado, Dusty Payne, Dave Wassel and Mitch Coleborn. Watch it LIVE on the internet or on Oceanic Time Warner Cable 250 or 1250 for HD.
