A couple weeks ago we had the pleasure of meeting with Ku’uwehi from KGMB9’s Hawaiian Language News Show ‘Āha’i ‘Ōlelo Ola. I was a little nervous about meeting up with her, as my two years of Hawaiian Language class in high school had worn off and I only remember how to say “‘O Race ko’u inoa.” Luckily the interview was done in english and subtitles added later. My favorite parts are that our editor Daniel Ito is also known as “The Ito” and Ito drops the word contrast about 9 times.

And thanks Steve for saying we’re taking Hawaii into the new decade! Don’t know what that means, but it sure sounds exciting!

At the waaaay too early time of 6:40am, Contrast Magazine Editor Daniel Ikaika Ito, Marketing Director Jason Shibata and Photo Editor Lance Arinaga will be interviewed about our publication and what exactly it is we are trying to do. Too bad Jeff Booth isn’t there anymore, that guy is hilarious. Maybe BATS will do the surf report?

Pro surfer and all around nice guy FreddyP and his good buddy Andrew Oliver have started a website called insurfnews.com.  This is a site about surfing news usually not tackled by the mainstream media.  It is really candid and at the same time hard hitting.  (is that possible?)   It is pretty fricken funny too.

The Office of Hawaiian Affair’s Blaine Fergerstrom interviewed yours truly in Journalism 302 and wrote a story about Contrast in OHA’s newspaper, Ka Wai Ola Loa. Mahalo @zztype! The story is well-written and interesting, but the picture of me looks like I’m cock-eyed like the dude from Goonies– ”Heeeeeey yooooouu guuuuuuuys!” Click the link below to read OHA’s report on Contrast or to laugh about my goofy picture:
