so take a break from your champagne and noisemakers to look up at the night sky.

POGO strikes again

Friday, December 25th, 2009

This time POGO uses all samples from Pixars UP to create “Upular”, I love the dancehall-ish breakdown.

Apparently he’s getting paid by Disney to do these now (Pixar ads at the end). Dope!

The Party!

Friday, December 18th, 2009

Christa (aka SuperCW) is a big time supporter of the arts, music and culture scene here in Honolulu. Whether it’s by covering events through her notorious blog (www.supercw.com) or by helping to sponsor the events through her position with Better Brands Liquor Distribution (thanks for the support in our events Christa). Christa is originally from the Northwest, but moved here and absolutely loves Hawaii. Which we all can appreciate. So tonight, let’s celebrate Christa’s 23rd Birthday with The Party at Fresh Cafe!!

If you’ve been to any of our parties, then you have seen all these acts. From Eskae at our launch party to The JumpOffs at our second issue party to Deadbeats/Girlfriends at our Downtown issue party.

Contrast Family Nicky Savage and his Fiero Crew (LA) will be doing a closing set as well!!

$5 cover and $10 open bar. What? Yes. Open bar.

Google Surf View

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

Shit. So I had this idea for a blog post awhile back, but didn’t get around to it, then I’m lurking over at The SkateNazi and see he already did it for skate spots! Damn! Hows that one of Chad from APB! Classic. Anyway, when Google maps launched a Hawaii street view option, I started searching out my favorite surf spots that are within street view. There isn’t much out there, but I found these gems. Good on ya SkateNazi!

This one’s the best. Must have been a nice southy when they were shooting, cause Half-Point at Sandys is firing!! Splitting the peak.

Roaming around to the North Shore, it looks like Kammies was getting some nice wedges too! Light wind peaks.

You can kinda see a little wave at inside Chuns.

No surf shot in this one, but hows this meeeean lifted Chevy? Hanapa’a in Mokuleia.

Some glassy lefts on the Westsiiide. Nevermind the chronics.

Empty, lonely, A-Frame over at Tracks. Thanks GOOGLE!

We put our Photog Intern, Kate, through punkrock boot camp over the past week by sending her to shoot Guttermouth, Strung Out and Goons of Doom. She sacrificed her eardrums for these photos, so click (here) to check the rest of them out in her flickr sets. Thanks KK!!
