Go Leanne!

Sunday, August 31st, 2008

Congratulations to Leanne for winning last week’s challenge on Project Runway! Yay! Pictured above is her sexy creation, which gave her immunity for next week’s challenge. The designers were required to make an outfit made entirely out of the spare parts and raw materials from a Saturn hybrid car. They were told to walk to 142 West 31st Street in Manhattan. After taking an elevator to the roof of the buliding, they were instructed to collect as much of the recycled car parts from within the parked Saturn vehicles. They had four minutes to collect the materials and one day to complete their outfits. Can’t wait to see what else she has in store for us!

VP MILF

John McCain annouced his running mate for the Republican Ticket, Governor Tina Fey of SNL.

Nah, I’m kidding, it’s Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska, but she does look like a Latina Fey. I don’t know if it’s cause she’s next to McCain, but she’s looking kinda hot for a Governer/Vice President Candidate. I’m into it!

Not sure on the strategy involved with this one, is McCain trying to combat Obama’s popularity and looks with a MILF VP of his own? Also, how is McCain going to attack Obama for being inexperienced when his own ticket mate has less than two years experience as Governor?!

Sounds like some good ol’ debating coming up.

Round2 of In4mation VS G-Shock

Ewa-dence

Tuesday, August 26th, 2008

A good friend once dubbed me as the “Filipino Donnie Darko” because of my nighttime activities at/on the Hawaii Prince golf course. A long time has passed since then. Primary objective was to catch a glimpse of anything worth calling “paranormal”. Anyways, the Ewa Beach X-Files division is back in full throttle. If you have stories, photos, and/or leads to any sort of paranormal phenomena, send an email to troy@contrastmag.com c/o “The Potagee Fox Mulder”. If you raise his unibrow, the Potagee Fox will investigate and the report(s) will be posted here.

FILE EBX-001 “Wak-Wak”

This photo was taken early morning Friday at a bus-stop in Ewa Beach. As you can see, this poor Filipino’s neck (George Bakbak) has been ravaged. Self-inflicted? Not even. It’s the mark of the “Wak-Wak” bird. Half man half bird. They hide in trees and are predators of the night. If you hear your name being called from a tree, be smart, protect your neck & run. No wak-wak! (Poor George Bakbak)

2008 Lego Storm Trooper Olympics

Sunday, August 24th, 2008

We’ve seen a combination of Lego and Star Wars in action in the Lego Star Wars video games… but what if the 2008 Olympic Games were thrown into that mix? Well Flickr member 713 Avenue manages to do just that in a collection of images. I have to be completely honest… I’m a typical girl who has no interest in sports, but a combination like this is sure to get my full and complete attention.

Oil drops below $115 per barrel.

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

“Crude oil prices fell more than 5.4 percent on Friday in the biggest one-day slide since 2004 as dealers turned their focus to rising supply levels and weakening global demand.

A rebound in the U.S. dollar encourage the sell-off, applying downward pressure across the commodities markets by weakening the purchasing power of buyers using other currencies, dealers said.”

According to CNBC, it’s a 20% drop since Mid July, which is remarkable considering that three months ago speculators were saying $200 a barrel this summer.

We’ll see if this decrease continues and how long till we’ll see prices drop at the pump.

I’m more curious to see if HECO will lower their monthly rates after all the hikes this year due to higher oil prices???
